One Great Race: Budapest

One thing the Team loves doing is indulging in some F1 fun outside of the main event, especially when it's in the form of a Live Demo. It's always a great chance for motorsport fans to get up close and personal with the Team and witness some dazzling donuts first hand.

On May 1st, hot on the heels of the Russian Grand Prix, we're packing up Daniel Ricciardo and his rucksack and heading over to Budapest to take part in one of our favourite events, One Great Race – or as it's known locally, Nagy Futam. This massively fun tradition on Labour Day brings together racing cars, motorbikes, trucks and more in the heart of beautiful Budapest to deliver a day of spectacular action for motorsport fans.

It's not our first time visiting, either. We popped over to the event in Budapest in 2014 and 2015 (with Daniel Ricciardo, Dany Kvyat and David Coulthard) and had great fun bringing the F1 vibes to a very large, very hungry (sorry) crowd.

That sounds right up my street. When's it happening and where?
On May 1st 2017 from 10am until 4:30pm on the streets of Budapest, Hungary.

Love a street circuit. What's the score?
Daniel will take part in a two demo-lap along the route of Városháza Park – Andrássy út – Oktogon. He'll do that as part of both the morning programme and the afternoon programme, so you've got more than one chance to catch him in action.

Sounds brilliant. Who's in?
As mentioned, Daniel Ricciardo is lined up to represent the Team in the RB7 and is as keen as anything to go back to Budapest after he rocked the 2014 Great Run. Valtteri Bottas is taking part for the Silver Arrows, and DTM drivers Timo Glock, Robert Wickens and Nico Muller will also be on hand. Local touring car hero Norbert Michelisz is also getting involved, along with riders on mini-bikes, race trucks and more.

Got any handy quotes from Daniel about it?
Oh go on then. "We can do stunts that are absolutely out of question on the race track, like donuts and smoking the tyres," said the Honey Badger about his first One Great Race experience in 2014.

Sounds brilliant. Anything else I need to know?
In previous years, visitors have been treated to fantastic aerial delights from our friends The Flying Bulls as well as some hefty road muscle in the shape of a NASCAR, so there's plenty on offer every year to pack out the day. The crowds turn out in their thousands to support this event, so if you're thinking of going along for the first time, you certainly won't be lonely!

I can't make it to Budapest. How can I still be part of the action?
We'll keep you updated with photos, videos and more on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels as well as right here on the website.

Where can I find out more about it?
Head over to the official event page for more info, here.
