From the moment the first car designs are sketched on a factory drawing board to wheel-to-wheel battles in the last laps of the final grand prix of the year, every Formula One season represents a furious battle to find a competitive edge over our rivals – and testing is where we hone that edge to razor sharpness. In 2017 that process is set to be even more intense as the sport prepares for the biggest set of rule changes seen since the introduction of hybrid engines.
New regulations governing chassis, aerodynamics and tyres mean that not only will this year's cars look more aggressive and racier, they'll also be more of a handful to drive and they'll be much, much quicker – anywhere between three and five seconds a lap faster than the previous generation. In short, it's set to be a truly power-packed season.
Red Bull Content Pool, Barcelona Test 2016
By joining us for pre-season testing at Spain's Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya you'll have a front-row seat at the unveiling of these radical new F1 machines and particularly our own Red Bull Racing Tag-Heuer RB13. You'll get to see the car turn its first laps and be close to the team as we work to optimise its performance in the opening round of the season. Plus, in the evenings you'll have the chance to enjoy one of Europe's most vibrant, diverse and culturally energising cities – Barcelona.
The development curve doesn't end in Barcelona, however. We'll carry on pushing for performance at 2017's two in-season tests. This year those take place in very different environments – at Bahrain's ultra-modern desert Sakhir Circuit and at Hungary's tight and twisting Hungaroring, just outside beautiful Budapest. Each will give a fascinating insight into how the team capitalises on the gains made across previous races and plans to increase performance further in the latter stages of what is sure to be a thrilling season.
