This is an exciting and rarely-available opportunity to work with the department leaders to manage the operational, manufacturing and design functions of our highly successful and ambitious F1 Aerodynamics department.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, Aerodynamics you will represent the interests of the department at a senior level in Red Bull Technology. You will assist with budgetary control of our assets and operational spend, ensuring our facilities and tools remain world-class, at the same time as helping us to recruit and support our dynamic and motivated team members. With direct responsibility for the managers of our Aerodynamic surfacing, design and production groups you will also have the opportunity to ensure smooth and efficient design, manufacture, and delivery of parts as well as helping to optimise our development workflow.

The ideal candidate will have:

-       Determination, stamina and the dynamism required to work in a high-pressure but high-reward environment

-       A good understanding of the unique challenges in running a competitive F1 Aerodynamics department

-       Experience of effective management of engineering design and / or manufacturing groups and the ability to demonstrate strong leadership

-       A highly collaborative approach coupled with excellent communication skills

Whilst experience in an identical role is not a requirement, you should be able to demonstrate expertise in a similar area and the ability to grow into this important role in our team.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Model Maker to join our Aerodynamics Department. You will join our highly skilled team, being able to work at both our Wind Tunnel facility and our factory in Milton Keynes.

The role will involve manufacturing wind tunnel model parts accurately to tight deadlines. Candidates will also be required to support the wind tunnel testing of model parts. Good hand skills and attention to detail are essential along with familiarity with model parts and construction.

The successful candidate will have a recognised apprenticeship or training qualification and previous experience of model making, laminating, machining and wind tunnel testing. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work to tight timescales and deadlines without compromising on accuracy are essential. The successful candidate will also be highly motivated, work well under pressure, and have hands on approach, along with proven problem solving skills.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Test Technician to join the R&D Test Group at Red Bull Technology.

Being part of the Design and Development Team, the R&D Test Group is responsible for ensuring our Formula One cars conform to design specification by successful completion of a wide range of verification tests.

Based within the main R&D Test Lab, you will be required to complete routine proof testing of safety critical components as well as acceptance tests on numerous parts and assemblies for our Formula One cars. You will be required to operate modern servo-hydraulic test equipment using defined procedures and programmable control systems in order to prove components are fit for purpose.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel is required such that you can maintain a test history database, produce accurate reporting of test data and communicate the results effectively.  

Ideally, candidates will be qualified to HND level in a relevant engineering discipline and have proven hands-on experience. Knowledge of current laboratory test operating systems such as MTS Multi-Purpose-Testware would be a significant advantage.

As you would expect, there will be a requirement for flexibility and the ability to complete tasks within tight deadlines is essential.

We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join Red Bull Racing as the Head of Technical Showcasing.

 

The Head of Technical Showcasing will own, prepare and deliver the technical showcasing materials used by the Technical Partnerships Team. Utilising their combination of strong technical knowledge, creativity and presenting skills the Head of Technical Showcasing will support the Partnerships and wider Marketing Teams in all activities where an in-depth technical knowledge of Red Bull Racing’s Partners is required. This can include showcasing at the Track and the Factory; writing case studies; delivering technical media interviews and social media postings; and presenting at industry events. This position will also assist the Partnerships team with account management where required.

 

The Head of Technical Showcasing will liaise with departments to identify proof points that will be incorporated into showcasing materials. These materials will balance both creativity and technical substance in order to promote both Red Bull Racing and its Technical Partners.

 

The suitable candidate should:

  • Possess a wealth of both operational experience and technical knowledge within IT and/or Engineering, being familiar with the latest developments and technologies currently being used
  • Skilled in creating highly graphical and engaging electronic presentation materials
  • Be an engaging and charismatic public speaker who is confident speaking in front of large audiences as well as being filmed
  • A working knowledge of F1 activities at both the factory and the track is desirable
  • Be willing to travel up to 50% of the time to F1 races and industry /sponsor’s events.

Ideally candidates will already have several years’ experience in manufacturing composite components to the highest level, with rigid adherence to laminating manuals and/or drawings, working solo or as part of a team. 

We seek individuals with a flexible approach and to whom meeting aggressive targets without compromising quality is second nature.

The successful candidate will be afforded a financial package including life insurance, pension and company car lease on completion of a three month probation period.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our CFD Tools and Methods Team within the Aerodynamics Department. The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of our CFD process and workflow, from investigating future meshing and process methodologies, to improving solver throughput while at the same time implementing cutting edge modelling techniques. In addition to having a proven track record in engineering analysis and simulation, the successful candidate should also possess a detailed and methodical approach to solving complex problems. 

The ideal candidate should have:

  • An Engineering degree or similar qualification.
  • At least three years relevant experience of CFD analysis in industrial applications.
  • Good knowledge of turbulence modelling.
  • Strong programming skills and experience working with Linux operating systems and queuing systems.
  • The determination and dynamism to the meet the tight deadlines that are required in the high pressure but highly rewarding world of F1

Furthermore, experience within any of the following areas would be an advantage:

  • An ability to code with C/C++ and Python
  • Managing physical testing to drive correlation.
  • CAD in particular Siemens NX and NX Open development

You’ll need to be highly analytical with excellent problem solving IT skills. The role will be technically hands-on, with a strong culture of doing what needs to be done. We have an exciting placement opportunity within our Electronics Department.  Working closely with the Design and Production functions of the department, you will produce on-car and off-car hardware solutions, meeting the requirements of our racing team.

 

The main accountabilities of the role are:

  • Design on-car hardware solutions, pit gear and rig equipment.
  • Create loom and sensor drawings, system diagrams, build documentation, process definitions, and 3D CAD models.
  • The use of a wide range of test equipment in our Test and Inspection facility.
  • Perform fault investigations on sensors, actuators, and across systems.
  • Assistance, where required, in all general workshop and car build tasks.

CAD Training will be provided.  You will be supported by experienced Electronic Design Engineers as required.  The placement will be for 1 year, starting in the summer of 2018.

Candidates should be studying towards an Electrical / Electronics related degree and should be computer literate.  They should also be prepared to carry out hands-on tasks.

The key accountabilities of this role are:

  • To develop a good level of competency of CAD through training and practice
  • To produce detailed design drawings of R&D Test rig assemblies and release for manufacture
  • To assist with component, rig and fixture assembly and general laboratory test preparation
  • To play an active role in the day-to-day function of the department, including component and assembly testing to the high standards set and the procedures defined by the department
  • To assist with the analysis of test results and compilation of accurate reports detailing the findings from R&D Chassis Testing
  • To play an active part in the presentation of the R&D Chassis Test Departments

REF: R&D Test – Drivetrain Group

The key accountabilities of this role are:

  • To develop into playing an active role in the day-to-day function of the department, assisting with the mechanical, electronic and software based aspects of dyno preparation and operation.
  • To complete dyno based gearbox component and assembly testing to the high standards set out by Red Bull Technology and the procedures defined by the R&D Test department.
  • To utilise trackside data monitoring and control systems in conjunction with the test rigs.
  • To assist with the analysis of results and compilation of accurate reports detailing the findings from R&D Drivetrain Testing.
  • To develop CAD competency using NX through training and practice, such that detailed design drawings of Drivetrain test rig fixtures and assemblies can be released for manufacture.
  • To play an active part in the presentation of the R&D Drivetrain Test Departments

Structural Analysis

Candidates wishing to apply for these roles should be studying towards a Mechanical/Automotive/Aerospace Engineering Degree. You should be computer literate but also prepared to carry out hands-on tasks.

Design Engineering

The principle accountabilities for the Design roles are as follows:-

  • Designing and draughting of vehicle components or garage equipment for either circuit use or R&D laboratory test
  • Following best practice as defined by the department for all activities
  • The preparation of reports or other technical documentation as may be required
  • Gaining experience in specialist areas of fault diagnosis, stress analysis, cad design, cad draughting
  • Developing problem solving and communication skills through working closely with designers, managers, mechanics and technical specialists throughout the organisation

The successful applicant will demonstrate

•          A good understanding of a 3D CAD system

•          An understanding of Structural analysis techniques

•          An understanding of Mechanical principles

Structures Analysis

The principle accountabilities for the Structural Analysis role are as follows:

  • Preliminary structural analysis of vehicle components or garage equipment, supporting experienced engineers in the team
  • The development of mathematical models for predicting the behaviour of specific elements of mechanical design
  • Following best practice as defined by the department for all activities
  • The preparation of reports or other technical documentation as may be required
  • Gaining experience in specialist areas of fault diagnosis, data analysis, cad design
  • Developing problem solving and communication skills through working closely with designers, managers, mechanics and technical specialists throughout the organisation

Candidates wishing to apply for the Structural Analysis role should be able to demonstrate:

•          A good understanding of a Finite Element Analysis software

•          A thorough understanding of Structural Analysis principles and techniques
