We have an opportunity for a highly capable and motivated Garage Technician to join our travelling race team.

 

You will be part of team that are responsible for the build, maintenance, reliability and safe transportation of Red Bull Racing’s pit and garage equipment. This challenging role will involve working as part of a highly motivated team that supports remote events whilst setting the highest industry standards in all areas.

 

The successful candidate will have current F1 experience and ideally come from an excellent mechanical background.  They will also be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail. Candidates will be enthusiastic with a flexible attitude to working hours and beable to work under the minimum of supervision to meet deadlines in high pressure situations without compromising on quality. The role will require extensive global travel. A forklift licence would be an advantage.

We currently have an opportunity for a Junior Software Test Engineer, this is an exciting role that will be involved in the software testing of a wide range of applications developed within an F1 Racing Team.  

The main accountabilities for the role are:

  • Execution of regression tests
  • Drafting and updating of procedures and test cases
  • Deployment of software applications trackside and monitor these applications during events when required
  • Support the handling of licences and routine software installations
  • Setup of scenarios for investigations
  • Support out of hours activities before and during events

The majority of the tasks listed above are currently related to off-car software (car configuration and setup, telemetry and pitwall applications), but a good understanding of race strategies and car performance issues are required to investigate problems and analyse results.

Essential skills are:

  • Strong problem solving ability
  • Very good personal skills
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Ability to write precise and accurate technical reports

Highly desirable skills are:

  • Familiarity with telemetry systems
  • Familiarity with Matlab
  • Understanding of race strategies
  • Understanding of Vehicle Dynamics concepts
  • Working experience within Motorsport or Automotive Industry

The ideal candidate should have a Motorsport or Automotive Engineering degree and previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage.

Candidates must also be able to be self-motivated and display a flexible approach to work patterns and enjoy the challenge of working effectively and to tight timescales.

This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of our highly skilled Aerodynamics team working at the pinnacle of Formula One.

In this important role your focus will be the analysis of aerodynamic data from our Formula One car, ensuring our continued success on the race track.

Working from our Milton Keynes factory you will be involved in analysis of data from both our development environments (wind tunnel and CFD) and the track. This role will also include improvement of tools and methodologies to facilitate aerodynamic analysis and active involvement in accessing, integrating and developing novel aerodynamic measurement technologies.

 

To fulfil this position you will need:

  • A high quality Engineering Degree, preferably with a specialisation in aerodynamics.
  • A thorough understanding of aerodynamic principles, with experience of CFD and wind tunnel testing.  Previous experience of track testing will be a distinct advantage.
  • An excellent understanding of data analysis tools and techniques with proven experience of developing engineering tools and workflows.
  • An engineering background with experience of mechanical design and a hands on approach to delivering projects.

You should be self-motivated, organised and proactive, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work to very tight deadlines within a dynamic team environment, often with minimal supervision.

The role may require some travel.

So you’ve heard a little of what we can offer you, here’s what we would like from you:

Preferably you will be degree qualified in an Electronics discipline with 10 years plus experience in mission and safety critical systems, ideally gained within the motorsport or aerospace industries. You should have a tremendous level of self-motivation, excellent communication skills and be process driven.

 

Required Competencies:

  • Analogue sensor & actuator interfaces
  • Small signal analogue design and simple analogue and digital filtering techniques.
  • Microcontroller and embedded real-time programming.
  • Noise/EMC reduction techniques
  • Comms networks (e.g. CAN/I2C/SPI/ARCNET/USB)

 Advantageous Competencies:

  • Data logging and telemetry systems design
  • PCB design
  • MISRA C
  • VHDL (e.g. PLD or FPGA design)
  • An appreciation of RF systems, Strain Gauging, PC software and simulation tools
  • Experience in the use of Computer Aided Design Harness packages. (Ideally Unigraphics NX8.5 or above)

The role involves working on a wide variety of projects within our Electronics Design function and alongside our team of Engineers. You will be responsible for Research and Development of new concepts; Analogue and Digital Systems and their subsequent requirements capture, specification, design, test and calibration for future use on our cars; or within our test rig or garage environments. You will be expected to help us in progressing our future development projects working with various disciplines across RBR and RBT.
