Another Front Row In Budapest

After dominating the practice sessions, Red Bull Racing has secured pole and P2 for tomorrow’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

In the heat of the Hungaroring, Mark and Sebastian were emphatic in their three sessions. Seb was fastest in the first session, Mark second quickest. Our Australian was top in Q2 and Vettel right behind him, then in the deciding session Sebastian broke the 1.19 barrier, recording a lap time of 1:18.773 to take pole with Mark right beside him on the front row after posting a best of 1:19.184.

It means we claim our sixth front row of the season and our 11th pole.

And our team principal could not have asked for more from his drivers or car: “It was a fantastic team performance today. The team and both drivers did a fantastic job,” said Christian. “Grid position is very important here, it’s also one of the longest runs to the first corner, so we’re starting the grand prix in the best possible positions. Hopefully we can have a successful race tomorrow.”

And Seb paid tribute to the team over the team radio on his in-lap: “Mark and I were pushing hard to finish first and second, but this is your moment, enjoy it – you built this wonderful car.” Once out of the RB6 he added: “I’m happy to be on pole; hopefully we have a good start tomorrow and a good race.”

Mark said tomorrow would be all about the rubber, and the start: "The tyres are the gold thing around here – you need to get them just right, understand them and then nail the lap, they can be pretty sensitive at times. We’ll see how we go tomorrow, it’s a long race and I’m in a good position to get some good points. The first three seconds of the race can be crucial and can deliver 70% of the result.”
