Christian and Adrian will be swapping tyres for trainers on Sunday (March 11) as they take on the 2012 Silverstone Half Marathon to raise money for Wings For Life.
Our Team Prinicpal and Chief Technical Officer will be teaming up with Wings For Life for the 2012 Silverstone Half Marathon to raise money for the charity's spinal cord injury research.
Christian Horner and Adrian Newey will compete as part of a Red Bull Racing Senior Management team, along with Red Bull Racing employees and Formula One fans who have been given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to run with our Formula One experts. The pack of dedicated runners will be put through their paces on Sunday 11 March at the sell-out event, each hoping to pound round three laps of the track.
Fans were selected by a combination of methods including application via the Silverstone Half Marathon website and demonstration of existing support for Wings For Life. In the build-up to the 13-mile challenge, they will train with James De Montfort, Red Bull Racing’s Head Fitness Trainer, and be given a money-can’t-buy tour of the Red Bull Racing factory here in Milton Keynes.
Wings For Life is Red Bull Racing’s official charity, with logos featured on both Sebastian's and Mark's team kit and their cars. Both our drivers and former British Formula One driver David Coulthard are ambassadors for the charity. The charity was established in 2004 and is committed to finding a cure for spinal cord injury. Wings For Life organises a range of fundraising events for supporters in the UK and the Silverstone Half Marathon will kick off their 2012 fundraising calendar.
Asked how geared up for the challenge he is, Christian Horner said: "Red Bull Racing is proud to be supporting Wings for Life at the Silverstone Half Marathon. They are an inspiring charity, which does great work for spinal cord research. I’m not sure I’m going to be setting any new lap records, but I’m looking forward to the event and to running the track!"
Nikki Wilson, Head of Wings for Life UK added: "The Silverstone Half Marathon is a brilliant event for Wings for Life to kick-start the beginning of a very exciting year of fundraising. We’re extremely grateful for all of the support given by our entrants and Red Bull Racing, which will be integral to another year of fundraising towards spinal cord research."
We're very proud of Christian and Adrian taking on the challenge. Hands up if you think we've got the fittest Team Principal and Chief Technical Officer in the Paddock?
