Red Bull F1 Hits Poland

Tens of thousands saw the final of a karting contest in Poland at the weekend where guests of honour were Mark Webber and Jaime Alguersuari.

The two Red Bull F1 drivers gave a demonstration along the streets of Warsaw in our Running Showcar and Toro Rosso’s Alguersuari also competed against the winner of the Red Bull As w Karcie competition.

More than 4,000 young Polish drivers had competed in regional finals in the preceding four months.

As well as showing the karters how it’s done in the F1 cars the drivers had some advice for the aspiring drivers: "In motor racing you have to be very patient to achieve your aim,” said Mark Webber. “Getting the timing right can decide your whole career. Red Bull As w Karcie is an ideal opportunity for participants to develop their skills in racing.”

The winner of the 2010 Red Bull As w Karcie, Dariusz Madura, won a trip to the Brazilian Grand Prix in November and also had a chance to race against Alguersuari on the Warsaw street circuit.

Although Dariusz had raced the track the whole day, it was impossible for him to overtake the Spanish driver: “The experience of racing with such person like Jaime was incredible,” said Madura. “I learned so much from racing with him. I can’t believe it was just one race. I guess that when you see how an F1 driver is taking each curve, it is the best thing an amateur rider can get!”
