- About
- The Silk Way Rally is another opportunity for car and truck drivers to get a taste of the “Dakar Series” at the crux of the 2010 season. For the event’s second edition. With any new competition, often comes uncertainty, but any doubts surrounding the Silk Way Rally were blown out of the water during its first edition in September of last year. Seduced by its appeal, amateur and professional drivers found a new medium of expression at a favourable time during the course of the season. The high standard of organisation guaranteed by A.S.O. also won over the media and television viewers. With the Dajar in their sights competitors aim to use the Silk Way Rally as a major warm up, its nine days of racing, high level of competitiveness and a wide variety of terrains make it the perfect way to get in shape for the challenge ahead. The Russian authorities, just like A.S.O., are convinced of the potential of the Silk Way Rally, and have decided to make a lasting commitment to develop the event. In choosing Sochi as host to the finishing line, the organisers will be associating the rally with the Winter Olympics of 2014, which is the major sporting project for the Russian government in the coming years. This show of trust will help to the race to anchor its place in the discipline and in the international calendar.
