Max drove a flawless race to win the Styrian Grand Prix and take a brilliant third career win at the Red Bull Ring ahead of Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, as Checo narrowly missed out on claiming a third podium finish in a row after losing P3 to Valtteri Bottas.
"I am super happy to win here and doing it at home at the Red Bull Ring is always so special. It’s a whole Team effort so thank you very much to everyone here and back at the factory for another great win today." Said Max.

The French Grand Prix was a heart-in-mouth race for every Red Bull Racing Honda team member and fan. Especially Head of Race Strategy Will Courtenay, who was on the pit wall at Circuit Paul Ricard.
It was Will and his team’s call to concede track position and bring Max in for a second pit stop, giving the Dutchman 20 laps to make up the 18 seconds he had lost out to Lewis. It worked, with Max retaking the lead with under two laps to go, which led Christian Horner to summarise it as one “Ballsy call!“
So, to be able to make such a big call at a pivotal time in a race, what exactly do the strategists do? And how do they come to the decisions that will be the difference between winning and losing? To find out, we sat down with Will and Senior Strategy Engineer Hannah Schmitz.
