Here we go! We’re in Europe for the first time this season!
We’re at the iconic Imola or as it’s officially known: the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
The Team is excited to be back at this historic circuit after last year’s race had to be cancelled due to the devastating floods, which happened in the region last May.
The track has a long history with triumph and tragedy in Formula One, hosting races from 1980 to 2006, before returning in 2020. It’s Mecca to Formula One fans who want to see their heroes on track, especially the Tifosi who will be cheering on their beloved Ferrari.
However, there are two charging Bulls, who in recent years have spoilt the party for the prancing horse. Max won in 2021 on his way to his first drivers’ title. Then it was a complete lockout by Max and Checo in 2022, with Checo finishing P2 and Max winning again, and also claiming a Grand Slam in the process.
The track itself is an absolute thrill ride for the drivers. It’s highly technical with complex turns which can be difficult to read. It had 19 turns (10 left-handers, nine right), run anti-clockwise and has a lap-length of 4.909km. The current lap record was set by Lewis Hamilton in 2020 with a time of 1:15.484.
