Max takes P6 and Isack P8 in Qualifying
Max Verstappen is set to start the Hungarian Grand Prix from sixth place on the grid, with Isack Hadjar in P8 as a tricky qualifying session for the Bulls ended with Max’s push for time on his final flyer ending in a spin and with Isack missing out on improvement.
The session had begun comfortably, with Max’s Q1 opener yielding a time of 1:18.656 that put him at the top of the timesheet, while Isack slotted into P3 with his first flyer of 1:18.754. As the remaining first run times came in, Max was eventually eclipsed by McLaren’s Lando Norris and Isack was beaten by Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, but when the flag fell the Bulls eased through in second and fifth.
The second session proved trickier for Isack. While Max’s 1:18.249 opener vaulted him to top spot and he eventually progressed in P6, Isack’s first run ended in a potentially costly off.
The Frenchman looked in good shape across the first two sectors, but as he started the final third of the lap, he carried too much speed into Turn 12, understeered over the kerb and into the gravel and spun.
He headed back to the garage, quickly bolted on a new set of Softs and went again. And this time there were no mistakes. The Frenchman blitzed the opening sectors, held firm through T12 and when he crossed the line, he took P1 with a strong lap of 1:17.872. He was eventually beaten by Leclerc, Norris and Hamilton, but Isack went through to Q3 in a very useful fourth place.
But there was no improvement for either in the top 10 shootout. Going into the final sector Max was several tenths off the provisional pole time and chasing gains, the Dutchman had to make a minor correction out of Turn 13. That upset his entry to the final corners, and he spun off track.
There was no improvement for Isack either. But while Norris found time to take pole ahead of Hamilton and Leclerc, the yellow flags for Max’s spin and for George Russell halting at Turn 1 mean that there were no major jumps elsewhere in the top 10 and in the end, Max took sixth place with Isack in eighth.

Bulls perform through solid Friday at blustery Hungaroring
Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar got off to a solid start at a dusty, blustery and hard to read Hungaroring, with the Dutchman ending day one of the Hungarian Grand Prix in fourth place, with Isack 0.379s off his team-mate in P6.
Encouragingly, both Bulls locked into an early groove in the early session with Max sealing P2 a little under half a second behind the session’s fastest man Charles Leclerc, though that gap looked to owe something to fuel loads. Isack, meanwhile, finished the morning session in P4, four tenths off Max.
The afternoon session proved a bit trickier with windier conditions leading to unpredictable and frequent minor snaps but the Bulls had a largely trouble-free outing. Max was not happy with his seating positions early on and then concerned with rear locking later in the session, but as other likely frontrunners struggled to find rhythm Max was only outpaced by the Ferrari cars and by McLaren’s Lando Norris, while Isack was only separated from his team-mate by Mercedes’ George Russell.
