Steve joined Oracle Red Bull Racing in 2021 after spending almost a decade at Mercedes. There, he started as a graduate in the strategy department eventually rising to the role of Senior Strategy Engineer. Initially factory-based he began travelling to races in 2015 and in 2016 was second to the Manor team as that now defunct team’s Chief Strategist trackside.
He returned to Mercedes in 2017 to work as a Pitwall Strategist. However, seeking a new challenge, he joined the strategy department at Oracle Red Bull Racing during the 2021 season. He started working trackside on a full-time basis the following season and at the season-closing 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix took charge of strategy at a race for the first time with the Team.
