Our Team's Qualifying Reaction from Canada

Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar will start the Canadian Grand Prix from sixth and seventh on the grid after an unpredictable qualifying left the Bulls bouncing from tyre warm-up difficulties to performance with almost every run.
There were no issues for the pair in the opening 18-minute session with Max easing through in P9 after putting in two quickfire flyers and then sitting out the second half of the segment. It was a similar story for Isack, though the Frenchman moved from the low 1m15s on his first run to 1:13.654 on his second to progress in a strong fourth place.
Isack was to the fore again in the early part of Q2 as he punched in a lap of 1:13.204 to sit in third place after the first runs. Max, less comfortable than his team-mate and complaining of poor front tyre warm-up, was 0.275s off that pace and in P6 ahead of the session’s final runs.
Isack found even more pace on that final Q2 lap, dropping the benchmark to 1:12.975 to take top spot ahead of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and McLaren’s Lando Norris. Max was still not happy with his RB22, however, and after failing to improve on his first run time of 1:13.479 he went through in P7.
The struggles continued at the start of Q3 as Max and Isack put in their opening laps. They both bounced back with their final flyers, however, but while both got below 1m13s, they couldn’t match the pace of their rivals and Max’s 1:12.907 puts him in P6 for the start of tomorrow’s race. Isack was just 0.028s off his teammate and is set to start sixth. And with conditions set to be wet for the grand prix, it’s still all to play for.

Max seventh in the Sprint but Isack hits trouble

Max Verstappen kept hold of his starting position of P7 to bring home two points at the end of what was an uneventful Montréal Sprint for the four-time World Champion. However it was a tougher outing for Isack Hadjar who crossed the line in 21st place after being compromised by an early technical issue.
At the start, both Bulls got away well from row four, with Max in seventh and Isack eighth, but on lap 5 the Frenchman reported an issue with the car and he dropped to the rear of the field before heading back to the pit lane. The Team was able to quickly rectify the issue and Isack got back on track, but two laps down on the rest of the field, the rest of his race effectively became a test session.
Further ahead, Max was untroubled in seventh and after 23 laps crossed the line to bank two solid points for the team and plenty of learning ahead of qualifying and the race.

Hear from the Team after Sprint Qualifying in Canada

Pierre Waché reflects on a positive Friday at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, sharing his thoughts on the RB22's performance in Sprint Qualifying.

Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar are set to start the Montréal Sprint race from row four of the grid after a tight Sprint qualifying battle ended with the top four teams lining up two-by-two at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
The Bulls navigated the opening session in Canada with relative ease, with Max in P3 and Isack in P6. It was a similar story for Isack in the second segment, with the Frenchman booking his place in Q3 thanks to a lap of 1:14.239. The Dutchman left his run until late in the session, but he was unhappy with the balance of his car and an uncomfortable lap saw him through in P9 a little under two tenths of his teammate.
The top 10 shoot out was smoother for both, but in the end the Bulls missed out on a final burst of pace and as Mercedes locked out the front row ahead of McLaren and Ferrari, Max took P7 and Isack P8 for tomorrow’s 23-lap Sprint race.
