If you like flavourful food, you’re going to be in for a treat with what you can cook for an Abu Dhabi watch party. Emeriti food takes in elements from Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Israel and Syria to create some delicacies that will make your tastebuds dance.
One of the country’s most popular dishes is maq'louba. An aromatic rice dish served with meat and vegetables. It is an impressive looking dish as it’s carefully layered and is flipped over to serve, wowing its audience– and we’ve been assured that it is easy to make so it’s a great option if you want to impress your guests.
Shawarma and Chelo kebabs a two extremely popular dishes that you’ve probably heard of, but if you’re going to the ultimate UAE experience, you’re going to need more than a takeaway menu to create these dishes. Chicken shawarmas are pretty simple to make and are a perfect party food. You can have some prepped and cooked within an hour. **
If you’re looking for something slightly lighter, Fattoush salad might tickle your fancy. It’s similar to a normal green salad, but what makes it special is the addition of fresh mint and sumac, a tangy spice made from berries.
We haven’t forgotten those of you who love desserts. There are plenty of sweet treats to choose from the UAE recipe book. Luqaimat are delicious doughnut-like balls which are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, covered in a sugar syrup. Or of course, you could also make a tray of baklava, a world-renowned sweet made with filo pastry and chopped nuts doused in honey, we defy you to stop at just one.

If you’ve ever been to Abu Dhabi they you’ll know they’re serious about their coffee and teas (we’re not talking English breakfast here). Gahwa is a traditional Arabic coffee that you’d usually serve to your guests when they arrive. To serve it authentically, you’re going to want freshly ground Arabian beans brewed in a dallah and then poured into in handle-less cups.
Sulaimani tea is another popular drink in the UAE. It is made with cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and ginger, with a squeeze of lemon and white sugar help to sweeten the drink.
If you’d prefer a cold beverage then you’ll want to make jallab. A drink made from grape molasses, dates and rose water served with crushed ice.
Or if you need your Red bull fix for the race, then we have a full list of Red Bull mocktails that are perfect for a party. For the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the Desert Rose seems appropriate. To make it, you’ll need dry leaves of hibiscus, rose water, lemon juice, ice, Red Bull Sugar free, and some lemon wedges for garnish.
