Our commitment at Oracle Red Bull Racing aligns with AFBE-UK’s mission. We recognise the benefits of disrupting traditional norms and diversifying the talent pipeline. Enter our “Drive for Change” programme—a powerful initiative aimed at addressing imbalances and fostering greater inclusion. Our recent initiative with AFBE-UK in January 2024, stands as a testament to this commitment. With AFBE we facilitated a day filled with talks and workshops, to empower students with the skills and knowledge necessary for the professional world of work.
The event was a resounding success, bringing together aspiring engineers from diverse backgrounds. Here’s what made it stand out:
- Inspiring Talks: Eminent industry leaders shared their experiences, challenges, and triumphs. Their stories resonated with the students, igniting a passion for excellence.
- Empowering Workshops: Practical sessions equipped students with essential skills—ranging from effective communication to problem-solving techniques. These workshops bridged the gap between academia and industry.
- Networking Opportunities: Students interacted with professionals, fostering connections that extend beyond the event and mentoring relationships were forged, providing invaluable guidance for their future careers.
- Diversity in Action: The event exemplified the power of diversity. Students from various ethnic backgrounds collaborated, exchanged ideas, and celebrated their shared passion for engineering.
Our Co-Leads, George Brown and Rajan Singh Panesar, expressed their pride and enthusiasm:
George Brown, Cultural Inclusioneer Co-lead said: “We were honoured to support the AFBE Transition event delegates. Their career ambitions were fuelled by the inspiration and advice they received. It’s a great day for diversity and inclusion in STEM!”
Rajan Singh Panesar, Cultural Inclusioneer Co-lead said: “To be involved in an event which supported students from an ethnic minority background pursue a career in F1 was an amazing experience. It was also great to see the level of support from across the business which showcased how important D&I is to the Team,
We also had the privilege of hearing from Calum Nicholas, our Senior PU Assembly Technician. When asked why he got involved, Calum shared, “It was an opportunity for me to expand my skill set while contributing to a cause I deeply care about. Providing a transformative experience to aspiring engineers is immensely rewarding.”
The event has reaffirmed our commitment to driving change, fostering inclusion, and shaping a brighter future for engineering.
