Pit Stop
In Formula One, the pit stop is the point in the race when everyone holds their breath. Races can be won or lost when the car pulls off the track, down the pit lane and heads towards the garage to stop in the box.
We’ve all seen the Team run out to work on Max and Checo’s car, but it happens so quickly, it’s hard to tell who does what, or how it happens at all. With that in mind we’ve launched a series: People of the Pit Stop, which dives into what everyone’s role is when it comes to getting in and out of the box as quickly as possible.
This series will cover more than the 20 people you see on the ground, it’ll be everything from a driver’s perspective to our Sporting Director.
We feel we’re pretty good at knowing how a pit stop is performed, because we’ve been top of the stops for quite a while now! This year the Team took nine of the top ten fastest pit stops throughout the season, winning for the fourth year in a row, the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award. And not only that, we’re also the world record holders for the fastest ever stop at a blistering 1.82 seconds. So, sit back and learn something…
